The Toronto Sceptres, last season’s regular-season leaders, are set to open the Professional Women’s Hockey League (PWHL) 2024-25 season at home on November 30 against the Boston Fleet. Boston were the runners-up in the inaugural Walter Cup last season.
The game, held at Coca-Cola Coliseum, will mark the start of a 30-game schedule for each PWHL team and a highly anticipated second season of competition.
PWHL Toronto ‘s new home base and key matchups
The Sceptres will play their home games at Coca-Cola Coliseum, which can host over 8,000 fans. Toronto’s 13 home games will include key matchups like a New Year’s Eve clash with the Ottawa Charge and a Valentine’s Day rematch against Boston. Fans are also eager for Toronto’s December 7 home game against the Minnesota Frost, last year’s Walter Cup champions and playoff rivals.
The schedule features additional notable events, including Toronto participating in the Ottawa Charge’s home opener on December 3 and visiting the New York Sound at Prudential Center for the first time on December 18. The team’s longest road trip comes in January during the Toronto International Boat Show, which will include their first visit to Montréal’s Place Bell on January 30.
The PWHL schedule includes three international breaks to accommodate global tournaments. The first break runs from December 9 to 17, the second from February 3 to 11, and the third for the Women’s World Championship from April 3 to 26. Toronto will close out their regular season at home against Ottawa, mirroring last season’s finale.
Scepters have lined up a strong roster
Toronto’s 2024-25 roster blends veteran leadership with young talent. Key returning forwards include Sarah Nurse, Daryl Watts, and Blayre Turnbull, supported by emerging players like Izzy Daniel and Julia Gosling. Veteran Natalie Spooner will start the season on long-term injured reserve.
The defensive lineup is anchored by Jocelyne Larocque and Renata Fast, with additional depth provided by Kali Flanagan and Lauren Bernard. Reserves Jessica Kondas and Olivia Knowles offer flexibility, while Megan Carter is on LTIR. Goaltending duties will be shared by Kristen Campbell, Carly Jackson, and Raygan Kirk.

Season ticket memberships for the Sceptres sold out for the second consecutive year, with limited half-season packages available starting October 17. Single-game tickets go on sale October 30, with fans encouraged to subscribe to the team’s newsletter for updates.
General Manager Gina Kingsbury expressed excitement about the season, stating, “We are ready to kick off the second season of the PWHL and our quest for the Walter Cup.”
Renata Fast, the team’s alternate captain, echoed the sentiment, saying, “The excitement has been building all summer, and we can’t wait to start competing to bring the Walter Cup to Toronto.”
The Toronto Sceptres are one of six teams in the PWHL, which launched in 2023 to showcase the world’s best women’s hockey talent. The league broke attendance records in its inaugural season and continues to draw global attention.
