“Before it’s even there”: Connor Timmins in awe of Mitch Marner after demolishing Habs

Mitch Marner was on fire again in the Leafs’ 4-1 win over the Canadiens, keeping his point streak going for eight straight games. During this run, he’s scored three goals and set up ten others.

Marner has been even better defensively, not allowing any 5v5 goals while he’s on the ice. His shorthanded goal against Montreal showed off his skill at turning defense into offense—and you can’t blame Timmins for gushing over our boy!

His standout performance brought Leaf fans to their feet and reminded everyone why he’s one of the team’s biggest stars.

Marner’s ability to anticipate the play, especially while shorthanded, has set him apart as a dynamic threat on both ends of the ice. Conor Timmins, who’s been relishing his return to regular play, couldn’t stop raving about Marner’s instincts.

“He gets a stick on, it seems like, every puck,” Timmins said, describing how Marner has a knack for reading where the puck will be even before it arrives. “He knows where it’s going before it’s even there. Has the hands to knock pucks down and create offense on the PK, which is impressive. He’s just a tremendous player in that area,” Timmins added.

Mitch Marner claims Leafs are ‘staying above teams’

Following the Toronto Maple Leafs’ impressive 4-1 win over the Montreal Canadiens, Marner shared his insights on what he felt contributed to the team’s strong performance. The Leafs were coming off a back-to-back game, but Marner believes they stayed sharp and stuck to a winning formula that kept them in control.

“I just don’t think we’re shooting ourselves in the foot. We’re staying above teams, playing smart, and managing the puck well,” Marner said in the post-game interview.

Marner mentioned that the Leafs played a “full, solid game,” focusing on keeping things simple and moving well across the ice. One of the standout aspects, according to Marner, was the team’s success in special teams, both on the power play and penalty kill.

Reflecting on the Leafs’ defensive strategy, Mitch Marner noted the importance of staying cautious, especially against a high-energy offensive team like the Canadiens. He credited the Leafs’ goalie for making timely saves, giving the team the security to press offensively while staying protected at the back.

Mitch Marner reciprocates in praise for Conor Timmins

Marner was especially thrilled for defenseman Conor Timmins, who scored his first goal of the season. “It’s always great to see a guy like Timmins get on the board,” he said. Marner praised Timmins for his poise with the puck and his vision, which allowed him to make smart plays and support the offense.

William Nylander was also happy with the team’s energy and control from the beginning. He spoke about finding space for his goal and gave credit to Timmins for his solid play.
